New Wolf Point School District 45/45A superintendent Henry Hamill has issued a hiring freeze in response to the projected budget shortfall for the 2010-11 school year.
While the budget was not finalized as of presstime Tuesday, the district expects to see much-reduced spending this school year since most of the Impact Aid monies were spent in previous years and are no longer available to be used to supplement the budget as they have been in the past.
Hamill and his staff will present the proposed budget to the administration and other staff members throughout the day Thursday so that all will have an understanding of exactly what the financial state of the district is.
The budget will then be presented to the school board for their approval on Thursday night, Aug. 12, beginning at 7 p.m. in the high school library.
The public is encouraged to attend the board meeting, learn about the proposed budget and will be able to provide input as allowed by law.
