Friday, April 13, the Wolves hosted a tough Chinook Beeters team. All four varsity singles — Alyssa Hoversland, Katie Smith, Carry Vandall and Kymree Flynn — lost their matches.
JV singles Ky’Anna Broesder and Kendra Landsrud didn’t fair match much better losing their matches, while lone freshman Erin Presser won both her singles matches, 6-4 and 8-6.
The doubles teams had a much better day, winning six of 10 matches.
Wolves’ #1 doubles of Hoversland/Ashley Parsley went 2-0, winning 8-1 and 6-2. Erin Presser/Sierra Hanks lost 1-6. Thea Smith/Hanks went 2-1, winning 8-6, winning 6-4 and losing 1-6. Broesder/Flynn lost a close match 5-7. Landsrud and Tavie Reum went 1-1, winning 8-6 and losing 4-6, and finally Thea Smith/Vandall won 6-4.
Saturday, the Wolves traveled to Baker to play the Spartans and the varsity prevailed 5-4.
Singles players Katie Smith, Vandall and Flynn lost close first round matches. In the second round, Hoversland beat her nemesis, Kyli Gentilini, 8-4. The Wolves also got wins from Parsley, beating Bakers #2 Savannah Miller 8-4. Vandall got a nice win over Miller, as well. JV singles had some success with Broesder beating Uecker 6-1 and Hanks beating Moore 8-2.
The doubles teams got wins from Parsley/Hoversland over Bakers #1, 8-2;
Wolves #2 Thea Smith/Sierra Hanks beat Baker’s #2 Moore/Hickey. Landsrud/Reum lost a tight match, 4-8.
The Wolves travel to Forsyth on Friday, April 20, and host Williston on Saturday, April 21.
