Senior Amanda Sansaver put her name in the record books last week when she tied a 28-year-old school record in the 100-meter dash.
Sansaver finished first in the 100m race at the April 14 Havre Invitational with a time of 12.80.
“I can’t say enough good things about the efforts she makes,” said Wolf Point track and field head coach R.C. Page.
Sansaver’s 12.80 time tied a girls’ school record in 100m dash set by Sarah Tufton in 1984, who went on to run for Minot State University for four years.
Sansaver broke Tufton’s record in the 400-meter race as a freshman.
Page said he was also impressed with the efforts of senior Dominique Brown, who finished in second place in the discus with a throw of 124 feet.
“He just keeps getting better in his throws,” Page said.
Overall, the Wolves boys placed sixth at the Havre meet, while the Wolves’ girls finished eighth overall.
Fifteen schools competed at the invitational.
“It was a great meet,” Page said. “We didn’t take a big team, but the kids that went performed very well.”
Page said schools from Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming would likely be at the Sidney meet.
“It’s just a very big, competitive meet,” he said. “We’re looking for personal records from everybody. The competition is going to be higher and the kids need to rise to that occasion.”
